Junior Golf Program

This year, West Bend Lakes enters its 12th season of The Lakes Junior Program! This year"s Clinics are scheduled as follows: JUNIOR CLINIC SESSION ONE June 23, 2008 - June 27, 2008 Ages 9 and Under - 9:30AM - 10:45 AM June 23, 2008 - June 27, 2008 Ages 10 to Pre-High School 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM June 23, 2008 - June 27, 2008 High-School Students 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM JUNIOR CLINIC SESSION TWO July 7, 2008 - June 11, 2008 Ages 9 and Under - 9:30AM - 10:45 AM July 7, 2008 - June 11, 2008 Ages 10 to Pre-High School 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM July 7, 2008 - June 11, 2008 High-School Students 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM As is an issue every season, we see many of our juniors attempting to play with improper equipment. Beginning in 2008, we have multiple sessions of Junior club fitting scheduled. During these sessions, we are offering DISCOUNTED SERVICES and DISCOUNTED JUNIOR CLUBS to fit your junior with proper clubs for the 2008 season. If your junior has outgrown their clubs, or if the clubs you have for them are too large, we are offering one-on-one club fittings to measure them for proper clubs. Should your junior need the clubs they have lengthened or shortened, repaired or re-gripped, bring them and we will make the necessary adjustments at a discounted rate before the junior clinic starts. The fittings are free - and all club repair and club purchases are discounted for clinic students. These junior fitting session dates are as follows: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 1:00 - 3:00PM Thursday, June 12, 2008 1:00 - 3:00PM Tuesday, July 1, 2008 1:00 - 3:00PM Please e-mail to wblgolfpro@yahoo.com to reserve a specific clubfitting time outside of these sessons if these times do not work for your schedule. Again in 2008 we have collaborated with Nike Golf to assist the Juniors with the proper equipment necessary for them to thrive at the game. Each paid clinic participant will again receive a new Nike Junior glove and a 6-ball sleeve of Nike Junior Golf Balls. Besides offering proper equipment, the Junior Program at the Lakes offers 1 trainer for every 6-8 students. This also allows the instructor to take more time with the students allowing more effective 1-on-1 instruction. Each session will be capped at 8 students, and additional sessions will be added if the demand exceeds the amount of clinics scheduled. Each Junior session runs for one week, Monday through Friday. The first four days include one hour of instruction and the final day is on the course (9-holes). The Junior will have the opportunity to learn the following golf lessons: putting techniques, sand shots, pitching, chipping, & all basic tee to green shots, along with the driver. But most importantly the clinic will focus on the rules of golf and course etiquette. When the week long programs come to an end, all clinic participants will be entered in the 2008 Great Junior Competition! Every time a Junior comes out to play or to practice they will earn points. The Junior only has to pay $1.00 when accompanied by a paid adult. At the end of the program the junior golfers that earn the most points will earn great golf prizes! In addition to the discount, if your Junior displays the general understanding of the rules, etiquette & has a basic swing, he or she will qualify for the Kids on Course Program. The USGA has a program for juniors in which allows qualified junior golfers to play at other participating USGA courses for only $1.00 per play & they can track their scores and averages through the USGA web site.
